First settled back in 1850 as an agricultural extension of Springville, Mapleton finally became incorporated back in 1948. With just over 8,000 residents, Mapleton is developing and growing while maintaining its rural atmosphere. In fact, Mapleton incorporated an innovative planning technique called TDR’s (Transferable Development Rights), which has allowed the city to preserve the foothills from any building or development. So most of the property sizes for residents range from ⅓-2 acres, allowing for an open, rural feel.
There is plenty to do in Mapleton. Local trails provide plenty of year-round outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, horseback riding, snowmobiling, ATV riding, running, and more. The city also sponsors family-fun events such as the Winter Wonderland Ball, the July 24th Celebration, the Memorial Day Celebration, the Moonlight Half Marathon, as well movies and concerts in the park and the local Briar Patch.
If you are wanting to get you or your kids into some local recreational programs, the city offers dance, basketball, baseball, T-ball, and an art class. Adult classes include yoga and jazzercise.
Mapleton is part of the Nebo School District. Although a smaller city, Mapleton schools are highly rated and offer students an excellent education.
Mapleton is the perfect family community. With the city’s expansive scenery, outdoor activities, and friendly residents, you can’t go wrong with living in the charming city.
