One of the most well-known and populated areas in all of Utah, Provo is the third largest city in the state. The city is home to Brigham Young University and just a short drive from Utah Valley University. With a developing music and art-centered downtown and a beautiful mountain backdrop, Provo has both the small town feel while having all the culture and amenities of a larger city.
Provo sits in between the Wasatch Mountains to the east and Utah Lake to the west. With two major nature settings, Provo provides a limitless number of outdoor activities and adventures. Provo Canyon is well known for Bridal Veil Falls, an impressively large waterfall that you can hike up to or simply enjoy the view from the lake at the bottom. In addition, Provo Canyon has scores of hiking trails, campgrounds, and running paths. Provo Canyon also houses the Sundance ski resort, hiking trails, and the Sundance Film Festival. The canyon also ties into the Alpine Scenic Loop, connecting to American Fork Canyon and its campgrounds, hiking and biking trails, and picturesque views.
Provo also has a plethora of parks and recreational programs for participants of all ages. The Provo Rec Center features a giant outdoor wave pool with water slides, an indoor water arena, an indoor climbing wall, and a gym facility. Through the city, the rec center offers swimming lessons; various sports leagues; and community programs such as photography, cooking, and so much more. Provo is also home to the Seven Peaks water park, with its swimming pool and water rides during the summer, and Peaks Ice arena with its indoor ice skating rink and hockey games.
Provo is part of the Provo City School District, which offers an array of well-ranked schools. With a choice of charter schools, academies, and private schools for all ages; generally smaller class sizes and extra help from local university teaching programs, Provo offers a very competitive education for students.
With all the recreation, nature, parks, shopping centers, and entertainment facilities, there is always something going on in Provo. Local events and activities will keep you and your family entertained all year long and are just a small part of what makes Provo a great place to live.
